Bibliophile (n) a person who collects or has a great love of books.
So as we have now established this is the Feel Good Revolution. I’ve shared recipes with you and filled you in with a video. I promised I’d be real with you guys so here goes. I’ve had a rubbish couple of weeks. I buggered my ankle for the zillionth time, caught a cold, fell out with someone and well just felt a bit pants about myself to be honest. So, I thought why not give you lovely humans an insight to some things that NEVER fail to cheer me up when I’m feeling as crap as I am at the moment.
The list is as follows:
- People that love numbers 1-3
- Drinking copious cups of tea whilst incorporating all of the above.
My hero once said:
…and it’s so very very true. By indulging in books and losing yourself within them you allow yourself to live a 1000 lives and that thought continues to blow my mind!
I like to display my books. It breaks my heart when I come across beautiful works of literature tucked away and gathering dust. I’m in love with my collection, the happiness they have brought to my life is inexplicable.
Those of you that don’t understand, I put it this way:
Imagine the one thing in your life that isn’t a person that brings you happiness and joy. What is it? Cars, dancing, massages, cooking, skateboarding, badminton….blah blah blah you get the idea. THAT is how I feel about books and reading.
What are my favourite books? Easy, Harry Potter. Always have been always will be. I’ve been reading it since I was 7 years old. 16 years on and I still can’t get enough. Of course there are other books by different authors that I’ve enjoyed. However, nothing has ever spoken to me or been such an amazing experience as when I lose myself in the wizarding world of Harry Potter. I mean I have a whole section of my bookshelf dedicated to it.
Some of my other favourite authors:
- Scarlett Thomas
- John Green
- C.S Lewis
- Stephen King
- J.R.R Tolkien
- Oscar Wilde
- Ransom Riggs
The list is endless.
Brew a cuppa, toast a teacake and let’s let our imaginations run wild. For those of you that don’t read books why not give it a go? Pick up a novel, start from the beginning, read every single word until you come to the end. What do you have to lose?
This is just a little insight into one of the several ingredients that puts a true smile on my face. Whenever I’m feeling down I know there is always a book of any genre waiting for me. Waiting to take my mind elsewhere. Waiting to be my escape from reality.
I’d like to know what books tickle your pickle. You can get in touch with me via the contact page. Holy sloth knickers if we started an online bookclub I’d be in my element!
